WANG JI
Wang Ji (Wansu) was a Chinese dignitary who came to Okinawa in the 1680s and taught a form which later became known as Wansu and was renamed Empi.

HAMA HIGA
Hama Higa (not to be confused with the later Matsu Higa) was a nobleman, almost certainly from the island Hamahiga was an expert of Okinawan weapons like the Tonfa. He probably trained under Wansu. He visited Japan where he played Go and performed Kobudo.

TAKAHARA PEICHIN
Takahara was an astrologer, map maker and Karate master most likely employed at Shuri Castle. He most likely studied Karate and Kobudo under Hama Higa.

KUSHANKU
Kushanku is the name given to a Chinese man who visited Okinawa in the 1750s. He became the teacher of Sakugawa and Yara (see below) and they developed a form named after him which we now call Kanku Dai.
